LIVE BM Pay · BSP Pay Wan bung, wan buk, wan tingting

The whole wantok, one shared book.

WanBung takes the exercise book and the phone calls out of a brideprice, a haus krai, a child's school fees, a wantok's hospital bill or a church building. Organisers open the event, wantoks pledge money or gifts, payments come in through BSP Pay, and every contribution is recorded where the family can see it.

Sign in with your PNG phone number — a one-time code arrives on WhatsApp, or by SMS if WhatsApp cannot reach you. Organisers and wantoks use the same login.

What it does

From the first pledge to the last kina, in one place.

Organise

Open an event in minutes

Brideprice or haus krai, the family, the date, the target. Share one link by WhatsApp or SMS and every wantok can find it.

Negotiate

The brideprice list, kept by both families

Each family's representative is invited by WhatsApp and uses their own phone: the bride's side asks, the groom's side offers, and when the numbers match the line is agreed. Both confirm, every later change stays in a visible history, and the agreed list can be shared on WhatsApp or printed. It is a record of what the two families agreed, not a legal document.

Pledge

Money or gifts

Wantoks pledge kina, or a pig, garden food, cloth — with a value and a delivery date. The organiser sees the whole picture as it builds.

Pay

BSP Pay, straight from the phone

Pay a pledge online with your BSP account (CIF and OTP) or your BM wallet. The pledge is marked paid the moment the bank confirms it.

Confirm

Confirm and keep it honest

Organisers confirm each pledge once it is agreed. After that, a wantok's change or cancellation comes to the organiser to approve — no surprises on the day.

Record

One ledger the family can see

Totals, who has paid, who has promised, what has been received. Reports for the elders in English or Tok Pisin.

Payout

Money to the organiser's bank

Online contributions land in the event's wallet and are paid out to the organiser's verified BSP account through BM Pay.

Kiosk

Raise money for a village kiosk

Start a kiosk fundraiser to buy a Village Fast Internet Kiosk outright (K100,000) or pay the hire deposit (K25,000). Only money actually paid counts, after the BM Pay fee; when the target is reached, BM takes it as the deposit or payment and the fundraiser closes.

School fees

Held until the fees are covered

Set the amount a student needs and an end date. Wantoks pay in the app and Blockchain Melanesia holds the money; it is released to the organiser only when 100% of the target is raised. Falls short? Each wantok chooses: their money back, or let it go to the organiser anyway.

Church

Raise money for your church, safely

A building, land, a vehicle or boat, a crusade or mission, solar and sound equipment, a conference. The money is held until the full target is raised, and a church is paid only after Blockchain Melanesia has phoned its leaders and verified it. Print a notice-board poster with a QR code, and let givers choose to give without their name showing.

Medical

The same safe pot for a hospital bill

Raise money for an operation, medicine or treatment with the same rule: nothing is paid out until the full amount is held. The organiser can move the end date three times; after that, every wantok decides for their own money.

How it works

Five steps for an organiser.

Wantoks only need step one and four: sign in, pledge, pay. For school fees, medical and church fundraisers the payout in step five happens only when the full target is held. WanBung is live and taking real BSP Pay payments today.

  1. 1Sign in with your phone number and open an event
  2. 2Add the wantoks or share the event link — they pledge money or gifts
  3. 3Confirm pledges as you agree them; approve any change a wantok asks for
  4. 4Wantoks pay online with BSP Pay or the BM wallet, or hand over gifts on the day
  5. 5See the totals, print the report, and receive the payout to your verified bank account
Who it is for

Made for the way PNG families actually do this.

01

Organisers

The uncle or aunty holding the book. Fewer calls, no lost pages, one true total, and a report the elders trust.

02

Wantoks near and far

In Moresby, Lae, Tabubil or the village: pledge from wherever you are, pay from your BSP account, and see that it counted.

03

The family on the day

Gifts and cash received are ticked off as they arrive, so the ceremony runs on facts, not memory.

Held until 100%

School fees, medical and church: the money waits for the target

These three fundraisers work differently from a brideprice or haus krai. Only money paid in the app counts, Blockchain Melanesia holds every kina, and the target is judged after the BM Pay fee. When 100% is held, all of it is released to the organiser and paid to their verified bank account. If the end date comes first, the organiser can move it, three times at most. After that, each wantok is asked what to do with their own money: get back what is held (the fee is not returned), or let it go to the organiser. The organiser receives whatever wantoks let go ahead, and everyone is told the final amount when the fundraiser closes. A church is also checked first: Blockchain Melanesia phones the church leader and a second church officer, and a church is paid only after it is verified. If it cannot be verified, every giver is refunded. Messages come in the app and on WhatsApp.

Built on the BM rails

Payments on regulated rails, records that cannot be quietly changed.

WanBung runs on the same BM ID, BM Pay and BM wallet as every Blockchain Melanesia app. The rules about who can change a pledge live in the database, not in the phone.

  • Online payments run through BM Pay on BSP Pay — CIF and mobile OTP, nothing typed into a card form.
  • School fees, medical and church money is held by Blockchain Melanesia and released only when the full target is reached; the rules live in the database and the payment server, not in the phone.
  • Blockchain Melanesia is working with the Bank of Papua New Guinea to secure its e-money licence; event money sits in the BM wallet until paid out.
  • A paid or received pledge is locked. Changes to a confirmed pledge need the organiser's approval, and every change is kept in the history.
  • Payouts go only to a bank account BM staff have verified, with a full audit trail.
  • Light enough for any Android phone on a weak signal; English and Tok Pisin throughout.
Questions

Askim na bekim

The things people ask before they try it.

What does WanBung cost?

Opening an event and recording pledges and gifts is free. Online payments carry a small BM Pay fee (2.5% at launch), which is shown before anyone pays.

Do all my wantoks need the app?

No. Anyone can pledge from the event link with just their phone number. Cash and gifts handed over on the day are recorded by the organiser.

Can a pledge be changed or cancelled?

Yes, until it is paid or received. A promised pledge can be changed straight away; once the organiser has confirmed it, the change goes to the organiser to approve or decline.

How does the organiser get the money?

Online contributions collect in the event's wallet. BM pays them out to the organiser's verified BSP account through the normal BM Pay payout run.

What about haus krai, not just brideprice?

Both. The event type changes the wording and the report, the mechanics are the same.

What happens if a school fees, medical or church fundraiser does not reach its target?

The organiser can move the end date up to three times. If it still falls short, every wantok who paid is asked to choose: have their money back (what is held, less the BM Pay fee), or let it go to the organiser anyway. The organiser is paid whatever wantoks let go ahead, and everyone is told the final amount.

How does a church fundraiser stay safe?

The church names its leader and a second officer. Blockchain Melanesia phones them and checks the IPA registry, then marks the church "Verified by BM" so wantoks can see it. The money is paid out only after the church is verified and the full target is held, and only to a bank account in the church's name. If a church cannot be verified, every giver is refunded. Givers can also tick "give without my name".

Can I give gifts or cash on the day to a school fees, medical or church fundraiser?

No. Those three take money paid in the app only, because that is the only money Blockchain Melanesia can hold and return. Brideprice, haus krai and kiosk events still take gifts and cash recorded by the organiser.
